"Grass Labyrinth", a Summerworld Inspiration

| | Comments (0)

Among the many direct inspirations for Summerworld are more than a few movies.  One of the most important, and one of the least widely seen, is Shuji Terayama's Grass Labyrinth -- but I'm happy to report that it's now available domestically on DVD as part of the Private Collections disc, a compilation of three films including Terayama's.  I've written up a full review of Grass Labyrinth on my main website, and I encourage everyone curious about the book's genesis to go read it.

I'll also be discussing the film and its relationship to the book at A-Kon and AnimeFest, when I have the book's official release parties; I'll have more word about those get-togethers in a month or so!
